According to the United States Census Bureau, 21 percent of businesses are owned by minorities. Based on estimates determined by their 2022 Annual Business Survey, that works out to 1.2 million businesses. Of these, over 160,000 are Black of African American-owned. Kevin D. Love II
is about to boost that number with his first The Vital Stretch franchise.
A former soldier in the U.S. Army, Kevin always wanted to own his own business. While he currently works in IT, this ambitious veteran previously worked as a personal trainer and nutrition coach, jobs which align more closely with his passions. “My personal goal is to help people lead a happier and healthier lifestyle,” says this San Antonio resident.
Why Did You Want to Own a franchise?
Originally, Kevin wanted to create and launch his own business. Unfortunately, his busy work schedule made this dream too challenging to bring to fruition by himself. That’s where franchising came in. “Franchising provides a great opportunity to leverage the previous experience of others and makes me feel as if I am working as part of a team,” he says.
Kevin’s Journey to Finding the Right Franchise
Kevin employed the services of a franchise expert when searching for his ideal business venture. “I initially considered opening a different type of franchise,” he explains. After doing a little “soul searching,” Kevin decided to explore other opportunities to ensure he was making the best decision – one that would profit both his bank account and his overall happiness. In addition to the multiple ventures he researched on his own, Kevin looked at seven opportunities with the expert before finding the perfect fit.
When You Know, You Know!
After meeting The Vital Stretch owners, Robert and Melissa Goldring, Kevin says he was sold on their vision and excited by the direction in which they were steering their company. Plus, he liked the fact that The Vital Stretch’s goals align with his own – “to lead as many people as possible to lives that are better through enhancing their mobility and reducing the potential for injury. I want to help people to move freely and live fully,” he says.
Does The Vital Stretch Make Franchise Ownership Accessible for Minorities?
“The Vital Stretch absolutely assists in making franchise ownership accessible,” Kevin says. “As a minority, I was unaware of many of the resources available to me to assist in the development of a business. With the guidance of The Vital Stretch leadership, I have been better able to prepare and organize action items and business requirements while simultaneously aligning those actions with franchiser-provided resources to assist in accomplishing my goals.”
How Have The Vital Stretch Owners Aided Your Journey to Franchise Ownership?
“They have been extremely beneficial partners,” Kevin explains of Robert and Melissa. “I have been overly pleased with the guidance they have provided me in almost every aspect of my business journey. Being relatively new to establishing a business can be a daunting process. The Vital Stretch has made me feel much more comfortable.”
This guidance, Kevin says, has extended to areas including real estate, general contracting, business operations, and marketing. And no matter what his question is, The Vital Stretch team has been ready and willing to answer it. In turn, Kevin feels an “exceptional level of comfort” in this journey to franchise ownership. “Working on a regular basis with this team further solidifies that I’ve made the right choice in The Vital Stretch,” he says.
What Are Your Goals as a The Vital Stretch Franchise Owner?
“I hope to build a sustainable organization employing the best talent and providing five-star service excellence. I would like for this business to be recognized in the community for truly helping our clientele and establishing an environment where we take pride in relationships built on trust and honesty.”
When (and Where) is Your Franchise Opening?
Kevin’s first The Vital Stretch Franchise will open in San Antonio in late spring 2024.
